2. Pest Control
Pest control is a huge part of maintaining the integrity of your portable building. Since the building’s foundation is raised, a lot of pests like to get underneath and dwell.
There are several things you can do to prevent pests from ever congregating in your building.
First, try to prevent any grass or plantation from growing alongside your building. Even a piling of too many leaves can lead to unwanted bugs (such as cockroaches) making their home alongside or inside of your building.
Next, you want to invest in barrier sprays to occasionally spray around the crevices you notice in your portable building. If you can see a crack, then so can a bug and they will find their way inside eventually.
It’s also not a bad idea to invest in a pest control service either monthly or bi-monthly to keep the pests away. They can spray the perimeter of your building to ward off all types of bugs that fall under the category of “pest”.
3. Install Critter Guards
Of course, bugs aren’t the only thing that you have to be careful of. Many different animals will be interested in making the underside of your portable building their new shelter.
Mice and rats are the most common among them, but snakes, frogs, and lizards like to make use of the shelter as well.
The only way you can ensure they won’t get underneath is to install a critter guard from the get-go. If you wait even a few days to install, it might be too late.
Try to get some type of wire mesh that you can install around the outside of the building. The mesh will allow consistent airflow while keeping out any animal trying to get inside of it.
4. Install a 15-Minute Clean-Up at the End of Each Work Day

This clean-up session signifies the end of the workday for everyone that’s in the company. No one is expected to stay late, leaving right on time isn’t frowned upon by the executives. As long as you clean for 15-minutes, you can clock out soon after.
Try to rotate tasks such as wiping down tables and counters, bathroom duty, cleaning the windows, etc.
5. Pressure Wash the Siding
Because of the businesses that use them, portable buildings are expected to get dirty. However, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t take the time to wash the exterior every so often.
Be sure to schedule a time (when construction isn’t going on) that you can either pressure wash it by yourself or pay a service to do it.
Pressure washing the sides from time to time will make sure there aren’t any permanent stains.
6. Install Gutters
Some portable buildings come with gutters and a spout installed, some don’t. If yours didn’t, then you’ll want to install it yourself.
The gutters will help prevent water from falling off the side of your roof every which way. It will protect the moisture from gathering around the perimeter of the portable building and direct it down a spout which leads the water away from the structure.
If you already have one installed, then be sure and clean the leaves out of your gutter every so often to ensure it works properly.
